Stephen has been active in theatre from a young age and it won’t let him escape. Over the many years he has gained skills in all of the backstage arts, but where he really excels is in lighting. Well really anything that uses technology. Lighting still remains his major interest.
He has designed many shows for companies in South Australia, in particular Unseen Theatre Company, Accidental Productions and The Bakehouse Theatre Company in recent times.
He also works at a variety of venues around town as a multi-skilled venue technician. He is constantly developing his skills and is always keen to help others starting in this industry.
He has previously designed for the company Straylight Australia’s 2011 Adelaide Fringe Show- Shakespeare's Mothers: Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know, and is thrilled to continue the design for their 2012 sequel – Shakespeare’s Queens: She-wolves and Serpents.
As like last year, this year Stephen is designing many of the shows that are appearing at the Bakehouse Theatre for the Fringe 2012. He has also already been asked to design lighting for Galleon Theatre and the Adelaide University Theatre Guild.
Next up for the Bakehouse, Stephen will design the lighting for “Educating Rita”, showing in May.
Amongst his day to day lighting tasks he has also found time to write a Technical Theatre Blog, Ramblings of a Techie, and also for the trade magazine CX.
