The Bakehouse Studio Theatre was newly refurbished and opened for the  Adelaide Fringe 2009. Since then it has been used to great effect, both during the year and especially during the Fringe period.

We have continued to improve this space with full airconditioning, new audience seats, another entrance for actors at the rear of the stage, and its own separate bar/foyer area.

In 2012, it was the home of a new project called BlackBox@the Bakehouse. This project was specifically created to support South Australian Artists and was very successful, being appreciated by artists and audiences alike.  Unfortunately we have not received funding for this project in 2013 so we are unable to continue it.

It is available for hire and is  ideal for plays that require a smaller number of actors, usually with less complicated sets.  It is often hired by young graduates of our foremost professional drama schools and you can expect to see a wide variety of performances that are up close and personal.

A more intimate theatre, it holds 40 audience members in raked seating.
