Well it must be something about this time of the year at the Bakehouse. Last February, we re-vamped the main theatre and foyer area and painted the outside of the Bakehouse building. Now we have been refurbishing again and created a new Studio Theatre space. We did this by reclaiming our front rooms, which were previously let out as offices.
Some patrons may remember that we had used this space several years ago as a theatre for performances during the school holiday period. Then the seating was chairs around the edge of the room and cushions on the floor. But now it has been recreated with an audience seating area for 44 people, a small stage with lighting and a bio box at the back. it has been completely repainted and given extra sound proofing.
It is now ready in time for the Adelaide Fringe - and is being used for performance of "The Adventures of Dead Jim / The Place" and Mediocrity".
It would make an ideal venue for one man shows or stand-up comedy during the rest of the year. Come along to the two shows playing there at the Fringe and check it out!
