Terry Pratchett's "Carpe Jugulum"

The de Magpyrs are the sort of vampires that would have Cound Dracula spinning in his grave. They are modern, forward-looking and no longer afraid of holy water, garlic, religious symbols or indeed, of anything else. They're out of the casket, and want a bite of the future. Not only that, they've got style and fancy waistcoats.

Little do they know, that they should be afraid - very afraid - because the Lancre witches are on hand to save the Discworld and the battle is on! The witches are about to "kick some bat".  Fast-moving, funny and ingenious, Carpe Jugulum is a worthy follow up to the highly successful Maskerade. It is Terry Pratchett's twenty-third Discworld novel - but the first to star vampires.

SNIPPETS FROM REVIEWS:

"Director Pamela Munt has hit the nail on the head in this condensed adaptation ....Munt dons a pointy hat to assume the recurring role of all-powerful Granny Weatherwax, creating a much edgier character than in previous plays....Laraine Ball...delights as Nanny Ogg....Suzanna Klarin entertains as Agnes' ever present inner self..Philip Lineton gets the most laughs as hunchback Igor. A unique and entertaining comedy" Rod Lewis - The Messenger

"This is a strong ensemble piece and the members of the group work extremely hard to bring their quirky characters to life, with hilarious results. Any serious Pratchett fan will certainly want to see this fun filled show" Barry Lenny - Rip It Up

"Pamela Munt continues to transmute Pratchett into play with increasing success. .....Seize the opportunity, if you're a Pratchett fan to catch this one." Ewart Shaw - The Advertiser

"Batting for the witches, Laraine Ball has a ball as Nanny Ogg, while Pamela Munt gives depth and strength to Granny Weatherwax.....As Perdita, Suzanna Klarin can be this reviewer's alter ego any day..... Michael Coumi and Sarika Young are very convincing...Philip LIneton thealthe the thow as the lithping Igor. Brian Godfrey - Adelaide Theatre Guide

"Many of the cast bring a delightful surrealism to their parts. Philip Lineton is a wonderful "traditional" Igor...Michael Coumie throws himself into the role with appropriate total abandon and Sarika Young is delightfully bitchy...the the audience left the theatre very satisfied with their two hours" Myk Mykyta - Radio Adelaide
