SNIPPETS FROM REVIEWS:
"Adelaide's Unseen Theatre has adapted two Terry Pratchett Discworld stories for this old-sytle radio performance.... coconut shells create the clip-clop of the barbarian's horse, a miniature door closes with a bang, and a train whistle hoots through the theatre....Its fun...there are a lot of ideas to mine here......." Louise Nunn - The Advertiser
"What is there to watch in a radio play? Lots! A fun time was had by all, especially the audience. These two short pieces are amusing and translate well to this medium. The Bakehouse is an ideal venue for this type of theatre, allowing everything to be seen as the magic is created. Rod Lewis achieved the right mix of visual and audio with the cast moving freely from character to sound effects with the minimum of fuss.....Philip Lineton was well cast as the Barbarian...Joshua Cramp looked and sounded the part as Erdan the Barbarian...Jamie Wright and Ann Portus both distinguished themselves....Pamela Munt and Rebekkah Rimington provide good support in the other parts. The whole production was complemented by the original music composed and played by Jonny Gorden. In all a short, sweet and fun visit to the Discworld." Fran Edwards - The Messenger
FRINGE GOSSIP COLUMN:
The return of the radio play confronts modern actors with the odd dilemma. In Pratchett Pieces Two - The Radio Play at the Bakehouse, Ann Portus plays "the horse" complete with traditiional horse-hoof radio sound effects - for which the actress has found a "natural abode" when they are not in use. Director Rod Lewis has had to remind her that there is a visual aspect to radio plays when performed in front of a live audience and "a lovely bunch of coconuts" simply isn't in the play.
