The World is Unreliable
Accidental Productions presents the Australian Premiere of Dea Loher's Innocence.
Innocence (2003) is an astonishing play detailing the fractured nature of our world today.
It tells several parallel stories: the story of Elisio and Fadoul, two illegal immigrants: of Rosa, Franz and Rosa's embittered mother; of the lonely Frau Habersatt apologising for crimes she did not commit; of Absolute, the blind pole dancer; and of Ella, an ageing philosopher, who has burned her books. A strange collection of people trying to make sense of their fragmented lives. This play investigates questions of morality, choice and guilt, told with often a sardonic sense of humour. But while it delves deeply into these questions, it also underscores the essential strength of people, their determination to survive and to give meaning to their lives.

SNIPPETS FROM REVIEWS:
“Innocence by Dea Loher is a remarkable play and a challenge for both the players as well as the audience. ......directed with dedication and dimension by Joh Hartog......Another fine performance by this crew and production team." – Peter Maddern - Krystoff
“Bridget Walters, Ann Portus and Anna Linarello expertly lead recent Flinders graduates... aided by superb technical production. It’s a faultless effort......Bravo Bakehouse and Accidental!” – John Ovenden - Hills TV Guide
"Innocence brings together a collection of outrageously idiosyncratic characters, draws blood from them, and then lets them at each other like sharks in a frenzy...... Fadoul (Jesse Butler) and Absolute (Samantha Soh) share a dramatic dynanism, and Frau Zucker (Bridget Walters) provides emotional pacing with her comedic relief." - Daniel G Taylor – Stage Whispers
"Accidental’s production makes use of a talented band of actors.....in bringing the characters to life...Joh Hartog has directed a tight and spare production. ....once again it has shown that, when it comes to Accidental Productions and the Bakehouse Theatre, they consistently produce quality theatre that enriches the experiences of theatre goers in Adelaide." Maggie Wood - Adelaide Theatre Guide
