"Finely polished and brilliantly timed.....The chemistry between Helen and Tom is well judged by Julia Mayer and Elliot Howard.......it really tugs at the heart strings" – Peter Burdon – The Advertiser

"This is an excellent production. All four cast members do an excellent job.....Excellent fun and nobody of any age who has been in an office environment will miss recognising all the characters"– Peter Maddern – Krystoff RAW

"..... (Mayer) plays her role with understaded aplomb....the unfolding romance is engaging and often funny..Elliot Howard handled (his role) superbly. ...his mounting discomfort is both funny and heartwarming...This is a bitter-sweet play and one that’s worth seeing for many reasons" – Stephen Davenport - Indaily

"....an enjoyable performance, full of humour and love and disappointment....(with) some great gags and fast-paced dialogue" - Miranda Richardson - Fringe Benefits

Don’t let the title put you off this brutally honest and hilarious play.

“Fat Pig” is the story of Tom -  a handsome young professional who finds himself unexpectedly falling in love with Helen - a bright, funny, sexy young Librarian who happens to be more than a little overweight.  But no man is an island.  Tom’s colleagues are curious about his new flame.   First there is the glib, superficial Carter who tries to convince Tom that he should “stick to his own kind”.  Then there is Tom’s ex girlfriend, the glamorous Jeannie who cannot fathom why she has been dumped for “that fat cow”.   Just how many insults can Tom hear before he has to stand up and defend the woman he loves?

As the author himself says, the title “sort of gets to the heart of the matter right there”, but the play doesn’t stop there. In a shockingly funny critique of a society preoccupied with appearances, it boldly questions our own ability to change what we dislike about ourselves.  This is a play about choices. Should society dictate them, or should we make them ourselves?
