Summer of Blood

Monday, 24 February 2014 to Saturday, 1 March 2014

Two old friends attempt to write a horror movie. But sister Cat believes she's a better writer, schlock horror movie producer Marty wants to control everything and swim-wear model and aspiring actress Ivory White wants to write, direct and star in this unfolding mega horror flick. Then it gets gory! Who'll be left standing at the end of this wacky screwball comedy?  This production incorporates fast comic dialogue with wild stage combat, on stage horror movies on a big screen and lots of blood. A bloody gem!

REVIEWS from Sydney spring season at Tap Gallery
"This is a satisfying ... messy romp about genre film and the aspirations of people in the B-movie industry, but audiences will remember it for the schlocky blood-letting, colourful characters and the many laughs it delivers" - Suzy Wrong, Suzy Goes See

“If you’re familiar with Deathtrap, Summer of Blood is a variation on the same theatrical / cinematic comedy thriller genre...  There are two very different duelling writers, a sleazy producer and an extremely seductive siren; together with the interesting role of Cat ... you wouldn’t be without her quirky fun.... particularly when the chase starts and the blood begins flowing.” Neil Litchfield, Stage Whispers

Summer of Blood incorporates rapid comic dialogue, fast and furious onstage combat, mini-horror movies on a big screen and plenty of blood...The final gory scenes are fantastic and this is one horror movie where you're unlikely to guess the ending.
Lesley Reed - Stage Whispers
The Summer of Blood is schlock unplugged, a gory visit to the entrails of a genre that otherwise needs no introduction.. I smiled all day about it today.
Peter Maddern - KRYSTOFF RAW
A screwball comedy with, strongly differentiated characters, and a consummate cast mean that this production deserves a much larger audience than it received this night.
Owen Heitman - Rip It Up
